Canoe Racing New Zealand is pleased to announce the appointment of Tristan Collins as our new High Performance Director, following an extensive global recruitment process and a successful period serving in the role on an interim basis.
Since November 2025, Tristan has been seconded into the Interim High Performance Director role via High Performance Sport New Zealand, providing stable and effective leadership across the high performance programme. During this time, he has led the performance team, overseen key partner relationships, and progressed LA2028 campaign planning.
Tristan brings more than 25 years’ experience in high performance sport, including extensive work across the UK and New Zealand high performance systems. Through his work with high performance coaching teams and medal-winning campaigns across Aotearoa, Tristan brings a genuine, values‑based, people‑first approach, with a strong focus on enabling coaches, athletes and systems to perform at their best.
The High Performance Director role is central to CRNZ’s ambition to sustain excellence on the world stage, strengthen pathways from development through to podium performance, and ensure our high performance system continues to evolve in a connected and sustainable way.
We are delighted to confirm Tristan’s appointment and look forward to his continued leadership as we build toward the next chapter of success for canoe racing in Aotearoa.
