Entries are open for the 2026 NZ Secondary Schools Kayaking Championships being held at Lake Tikitapu, Rotorua on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March 2026. This is a School Sport NZ sanctioned Championship Event.
Racing will include single person kayaks (K1) and double kayaks (K2) in 250m sprint races, K1 distance races (between 1.5-2.5km) and 3x100m school team relay races. Canoe Racing NZ aims to lower barriers to participation through the provision of equipment across all divisions, including kayaks suitable for beginner level paddlers.
Age group divisions will include 14years & under, 16years & under and 18years & under. All entrants must meet School Sport NZ eligibility requirements.
This event is disability inclusive and will include para canoe racing.

How to Enter:
Entries are to be completed online by a school administrator within the CRNZ Paddler Portal Entry system. If the school TIC has not received a link to the entry platform, please email Danika@crnz.org to request.
Online entries close at 11.59pm on Friday 6th March.
Schools will need to allocate a team manager to be the main contact person during the event, who will be onsite. This could be a teacher/school staff or a parent. This is to be done within the entry process.
This event is being held in collaboration with the NZSS Waka Ama championships, which runs from Monday 23rd March at Lake Tikitapu.
