Canoe Racing NZ has been offered the opportunity for two female athletes to participate in the Talent Identification Programme (TIP) Camp, held in conjunction with the 2026 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships in La Vila Joiosa, Spain.
The TIP Camp aims to identify and support talented female athletes, primarily from the nations, who are new to Canoe Ocean Racing and show genuine potential for further development.
Financial support from the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing Committee and the Royal Spanish Canoe Federation makes participation possible for athletes.
Beyond the World Championships experience, selected athletes will be part of a longer-term development pathway – with the goal of representing their country at the upcoming continental and world competitions in 2027.
Camp details:
Camp Dates: 4 – 12 October 2026 (9 days)
Location: La Vila Joiosa, Spain
What is covered: Local transportation, accommodation, meals for the
full duration of the Camp, and the entry fee for the
World Championships.
What is not covered: International travel, visa costs, and health insurance – these must be funded by the athlete.
Coaching Staff: The programme will be led by Angie Le Roux as a Head Coach for the 2026 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing Talent Identification Program (TIP).
Development Pathway:
Athletes selected for the TIP Camp will be considered for continued ICF support toward the 2027 World Championships. This programme is designed not only to open doors at the World Championships, but to build a generation of competitive female paddlers representing Oceanian nations at the highest level of the sport.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
Places are limited. Priority will be given to applications meeting the following
criteria; however, applications that do not meet all criteria may still be considered.
- A maximum of two athletes per country.
- Open to female athletes only.
- Athletes must be between 18 and 25 years of age.
- Priority will be given to athletes from National Federations who are willing to help develop Canoe Ocean Racing in their country in the future.

Interested applicants must confirm their interest to Canoe Racing NZ by 11.59pm Monday 3rd August, along with their intention to compete at the 2026 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships. Complete this form
You will need to submit a photo of your passport with this expression of interest.
CRNZ will then submit the applications to the International Canoe Federation by the 5th August deadline. Following receipt of applications, the ICF will issue invitations to selected athletes.
We apologise for the short time frame given for application, this was a late opportunity presented to CRNZ by the ICF with this deadline imposed.
