Canoe Racing NZ seeking National Selector

Canoe Racing New Zealand (CRNZ) is seeking to appoint an additional National Selector to support the selection of Open and Age Group teams. This appointment reflects a continued strengthening of CRNZ’s selection framework, with a focus on ensuring robust, balanced and well-informed decision-making across selection panels.

Purpose of the Role

The National Selector will contribute to:

  • Fair, consistent and evidence-based selection decisions
  • Collective decision-making across a panel environment
  • The integrity and credibility of CRNZ’s selection processes

Selectors will work alongside other appointed selectors and CRNZ personnel.

  • Demonstrated experience in high performance sport, including competition, coaching or performance leadership
  • Strong judgement and the ability to assess performance across multiple inputs
  • The confidence to contribute constructively within a panel setting
  • High levels of integrity, discretion and the ability to manage sensitive information

Experience within canoe sprint/kayaking is advantageous, but not essential. Consideration will be given to candidates from aligned high performance environments, where this strengthens overall panel capability.

Panel Composition

The primary consideration is the appointment of the best candidate(s) to strengthen overall panel capability.

CRNZ will continue to consider panel balance over time, including diversity of experience and perspective (including gender), without mandating this within a single appointment.
